My Input on Which is Do You Like the Most--Reading or Writing?
This is an extremely hard question. I personally always love to lose myself in a book, whether it's one that I'm reading or one that I'm writing. The great thing about reading is the element of the unknown because you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what's going to happen or how the story will end. It just hits you with the thrilling feeling. No other explanation. You can lose yourself in someone else's world and have a lot of fun trying to guess what will happen next or simply 'enjoying the ride'. However, one of the reasons I love to write is because I can create something where there was nothing and hopefully give other people a great reading experience at the same time. Also, I can control exactly what happens in my characters' world -- it gives me a sense of power and importance that I don't have in day-to-day life. That's what I love about writing and reading. I don't think I could choose between the two.

I completely agree with what you've said. Even if my life depended on it, I couldn't chose between reading and writing and which one is better because to me they're both great. A sense of control is given to you through writing, but reading is an exciting adventure leading into the world of the unknown. Maybe a better question would have been what style of writing do you like best or what genres of books interest you most? Reading and writing work together, and are such important aspects to life. Like you, I couldn't chose between the two of them because they are so very different, but yet they're very similar and go hand-in-hand. Who would the writer be without its audience the reader(s)? And likewise, we could not even enjoy the pleasures of reading without the writer.
ReplyDeleteHave to admit this is one hard question to answer. Both of reading and writing is valuable in its own way. I enjoy reading books I can lose myself in. It's a whole new world in those hard cover items and it's always filled with excitement. However, writing to can be filled with joy. Writing is an excellent way for some to express themselves. People use journals and diaries to express their emotions and talk about their lives. Before ERW I would have said I'd prefer reading over writing, but thanks to that class and Ms. Fletch herself I have come to value the concept of writing more. Those little exercises we do in our notebooks have helped me improve my love for writing. So to pretty much to answer this question, I would have to say..................................................................................................................... BOTH !
ReplyDeleteIt's too hard to pick, so I'll take the easy route out and say I prefer READING and WRITING.
